Drop downs for sub types?

Hello hello,
I'm back with another question for you. Could we have drop-downs for the sub-types too? I find myself forgetting exactly what I had called a certain thing, and then I end up with sub-categories that don't help me much b/c they're randomly divided up into things like Groceries/Grocery Shopping/Food Co-op or Lunch out/Eat out/Eating out/Dinner Out.
Thanks for your consideration, as always!

I am guessing you want this when you enter expenses...

Yes, it would be a good to look up and show the user's sub types for the selected type. And we did have this feature some time back, but we removed it. Not sure what the issue was, let me see...

You guessed right, I meant for entering expenses.
Thanks!

I've added the picker to choose one of your existing sub types to the expense form. It is slightly ugly, but this particular form and the Expense context soon are in the list to be revisited soon. Hope to clean up a few things then.
Thanks once again :-)

Thanks for this addition, (and it looks just fine to me!) Just wondering now if there'd be a way to delete some of the subtypes from my lists, or all of them so I could start over? I'd like to standardize my subtype category names if possible.

The expense subtype list shows all subtypes you entered in the past for the given type. The only way to update the list that is shown is to edit the subtypes in each expense entry. Yes, this could be painful depending on how many expense entries you need to edit.
You could use the filter view (click the filter icon on top right when your expenses are listed), then search for expenses by a Type (the type where you think you have multiple similar subtypes), open the expense in a new tab and edit the subtype in the expense entry.
I know this is painful, but this is the way. Sorry!

Oy, I thought I could do that since I don't use subtypes that often anyway (which is why I always forgot what I'd named something) but it would mean opening every single expense entry I have from the last year, since I can't even see if a particular item has a subtype already unless I open it in its own window, right? Or is there a way to list by subtype?

Does "filter view" mean "custom report"? I didn't see an icon with the name 'filter view' but I did a custom report by type. Let me know if I missed something. Thanks!

Yes, you are right. This will be a very painful task with what we have now. You could wait for a few more days until we roll out a more polished, cleaner interface and that will have an easier way to do this task. It will still be a manual task, but you will be able to list with the sub type showing, open an expense in a dialog, etc.

All these features mentioned above are coming soon. It is taking more time than I expected. Most of it will be rolled out in the next few days. The Custom/Advanced Expense View might take some more time.

Hope you like the finished product...

Sounds great, eagerly awaiting the roll-out then. Always fun to see the new features you're adding. Thanks!
