Income included in budgets? |
Hi again,
(By the way, this site has been *so* helpful as I start a new job in a new city and try to keep myself in good financial shape. Thanks!)
I was wondering if there would be a way to include an actual income total in the budget reports? Right now it displays "Total Budget Amount", but I have to go back to my income page or the Income vs. Expense report in order to see if my income is actually on target with the budget. Could there maybe be a "Budgeted Income Amount vs. Actual Income" comparison next to the "Total Budget Amount," the same way there is for each expense category? I don't know if those reports can pull from two different places at a time (income & expenses), but thought I'd ask.
Grazie!

Thank you for the compliment.
About displaying the Income in the budget reports - it is a great idea, but I am going to think about it a little. See technically, you can have a budget for anything - your monthly household expenses, a birthday party, vacation, etc. Showing the actual income in the report adds value only when you use budgets to create a monthly household budget. May be we could add it as an option.

Gave this some more thought and realized that this is a pretty cool idea. But instead of adding the income amount to the budget, how about adding a "Dashboard" on the top of each page. This dashboard shows you the amount you have earned and spent this month. You can choose to display or hide the dashboard. And in future we'll add more stuff to the dashboard.

Sounds excellent! I was thinking more about how I use my income page too, and noticed there's not a "Total" line. Could that be added?
Could the dashboard display be customizable by time period, like the budget display? (it's great having the calendar there to set the time frame I want to look at). Can't wait to see it.
Thanks for all your hard work!
